I thought I would add a few of the smaller girls that I've repainted. This is Celeste... she was created using a Mattel My Scene Barbie. I removed all factory paint and gave her a new custom repaint. Also removed all the factory hair and re-rooted a full head of hair in 'Fairy Lights' saran katsilk. Celeste was a gift to my lovely daughter Megan!
how do you reroot barbie hair? does it require a special tool?

This is true, but you can't beat yourself up about it. It's not your fault life isn't fair, so why punish yourself? Stop crying, throw away your razors, get out of that corner and DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT! Live your life to its fullest!
With LOTS of patience! LOL Seriously though, you can do re-roots a few ways. Probably the quickest way is the tension method which does require a special tool. It pushes the hair into the head at an angle and this is supposed to hold the hair in. However, the hair can come out this way and its best to seal inside the head to give extra hold. The method I use and in my opinion is one of the most secure ways (plus the hair seems to sit much more naturally).. is the hand knotted method. Each plug of hair is taken into the head with a needle and then securely knotted. Its a much more time consuming method but I prefer it. If your after tutorials on the different methods, let me know and I'll send you the links. Thanks so much for your interest! Julie

No problem... here are a few links. You should be able to get an idea from these.
This first one shows the knot method which I use. The tutorial shows the needle going in through the neck and out through the head but I personally prefer to pass the needle from the head down through the neck and then tie the knot... I feel I have more control on where the needle goes in and out. You will see what I mean when you look through the tutorial. [link]
These next ones are for tension method, locked loop method and the last one is Sara Wagners method (Brutal Sun Studios) which is a very good one also.

We understand that each day you may not be able to check out each and every one of the pieces, everyone has their own things going on. We just ask that you make an attempt to help support the growing Literature community.
